“Go to Jail Go, Directly to Jail” – Nancy Pelosi

Ever play board games when you were a kid? Do you remember that game? Oh come on, you know the one where you went around and around the board trying to buy up all the property and earn money? Sure you do – the one where the winner is the player with all the money and the property at the end. All my life I thought the game was based on capitalism – turns out I was wrong. Apparently it is a game about a government run by Democrats. Now what was the name of that game? Oh yeah – it was called MONOPOLY and in Monopoly you better not land in the wrong place because if you do – It’s jail for you.

It appears that in addition to SEIU the House Democrats have reached out to Parker Bros. for help in designing their version of the government takeover of healthcare. Seems if you find yourself landing in the wrong place (unable or unwilling to buy healthcare); the House Healthcare Reform bill contains language that could land you in jail time if you do not buy the required coverage as prescribed under the proposed law.

Specifically, the bill states that individuals who don’t buy health insurance and fail to pay the fine of roughly 2.5 percent of their income which can be imposed for failing to purchase the required coverage face a penalty of up to 5 years in prison.

IRS Code provides for collection and enforcement authority for the healthcare proposal under the following sections:

• Section 7203 — misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.

• Section 7201 — felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.”

However, it gets worse; according to a recent analysis by the Congressional Budget Office, the lowest-cost non-group, family plan will cost $15,000/year by 2016 under HR 3862 which is the House of Representatives bill. That is versus a current average cost today of $10,880. This is shaping up to be another fine example of government efficiency and cost containment.

HR 3862 claim is that the bill makes healthcare more affordable for everyone but it only provides subsidies to help pay for coverage  after families making about $45,000 have paid 8 percent of their income towards insurance or after those earning a household income of about $65,000 have paid in 12 percent of their income. In either case this represents a significant bite out of the net income these families would need to live on.

Ironically, the only medical services that seem to be decreasing in cost are the ones not typically covered by medical insurance such as cosmetic surgery – why? Easy, because when insurance companies have little or no involvement the free market takes over and competition drives down prices. A government run public option will first drive insurance companies out of business which you might think would be a good thing but remember “nature hates a vacuum”. The result will be a government “monopoly” of healthcare that will be an inefficient, overpriced system that will ultimately deliver a lower standard of care and eventually result in rationing.

This is both unconstitutional and immoral. What has this happened to America? How have we gotten to a point where the government is actively engaging in the redistribution of wealth and providing “nanny state” services? To fund this madness the Communists, oops I mean Democrats in charge, are boldly proclaiming their intentions of making “the rich” pay an additional 5.75% in income tax.

It is time for the government to get out of the private sector and do the things it was intended to do. Healthcare is not a “constitutional right” anymore that it should be a “government requirement”. Don’t be fooled this is not about better access or more affordable healthcare. It is about a power grab by the government to tighten its’ grip on its’ citizens and gain more control.

Wake up, America! Tell Congress to quit playing games with our lives, liberties and freedoms. We do not want or need a government solution to every problem. Mr. President – if you are listening I am more worried about you and your cronies “gaming us” then other gaming the system. As for responsibility if you had a clue about what that means you would quit trying to spend us into bankruptcy or at the very least quit encouraging “generational theft”.

It is time to stand up and say, “Enough!” Let your senators know that we do not want the government involved in running our health system. No compromise version of this 2000 page train wreck is the solution. The only answer is to start over and write small manageable pieces of legislation that address specific issues. Issues such as tort reform, increasing competition by opening up interstate purchasing opportunities or allowing the private insurance market to design multiple types of packages for consumers to select from which allows them to tailor coverage to their needs rather than a community standard.

Restore Free Choice, Restore the Republic, Reject Government Run Healthcare! If they refuse to listen, then it should be “Go to Jail, Go Directly to Jail – Do not pass Go, Do not Collect your Government Pension!” You have been charged with Treason! Game Over!

“If you want total security, go to prison. There you’re fed, clothed, given medical care and so on. The only thing lacking… is freedom”. – Dwight D. Eisenhower

One response to ““Go to Jail Go, Directly to Jail” – Nancy Pelosi

  1. In 2010, we must begin by asking each candidate a series of questions during a televised debate. I don’t feel it’s necessary to give the candidates our questions prior to the debate because America is not looking for anymore political answers. Give a politician time to consider an answer and you’ll give yourself a migraine. If the men and women who wish to run this country can’t answer a few impromptu questions asked by the tax payer, then they mustn’t apply.
I have spent the last few months compiling answers from people across the country to the question, “If you could ask a potential Congressman and Senator five questions, what would they be?” Not so oddly enough, repeat questions occur over and over again.
I don’t know yet if I would want this as one of the questions asked during a time sensitive, televised debate but, “Are you a lawyer or have you ever practiced law?” needs to be asked and answered by every candidate.
Don’t misunderstand, I love the Law. I believe the American Legal System, for the most part, is something to admire and a system the world should emulate. However, the fact that the biggest portion of Capital Hill is filled to the brim, actually overflowing, with attorneys is not a good thing, it is half of our problem.
Congress has made it their job to spend their days doing two things; playing with Special Interest Groups, and manipulating Constitutional Law to fit their current needs and desires. Did you noticed I said “Their needs and desires?” The American Public is no longer even on the back burner in Washington and for those running the country. I don’t think we need anymore damn lawyers screeching their way through our lives.
Representative Darrell Issa is a fantastic example of what America needs representing Her on Capital Hill. Congressman Issa had spent the better part of his life running a very successful, small business prior to politics. Darrell Issa knows what it takes to run this country, listen to his constituents, use his office to investigate illegal acts, and do it all with honor. America needs to seek out more people like Issa, McCotter, King, and Bachman, as well as Senators Coburn, and Kyl.
Congress continues to heap demand after demand onto the plates of American Tax Payers and now, we cannot accommodate another spoonful of anything Congress wants to sale. However, our inability to pay for, want, or to need what Congress is selling has ceased to be a reason for them to halt their demand making. So, it is our turn to start making a few polite demands of our own. And, if candidates can’t answer our questions and demands, we will find ones who will. At this point, there is no point in asking incumbents any questions, they’re time in office, has now expired.
Americans are putting control back into their own hands, one pair at a time, and it is a great event taking place. I continue to pray America will continue to build on the current momentum, and keep up the steam until the last poll has closed on election day.
