Hollywood Gun Hypocrisy

Love this remake of a recent anti -gun ad by a bunch of Hollywood hypocrites. Guns are less of a problem than the people who glorify murder and violence through movies, TV, video games and music. However we dont like to talk about the country’s morale deacay, its easier to blame it on the guns. What should really gall us is the fact that the very group making a fortune off this culture of violence are the ones lecturing us. Our 2nd Amendment right to bear arms is being threatened by the very same people who would use the 1st Amendment for freedom of speech to defend their right to produce a violent, drug and sex filled movie. They are all a bunch of shameless hypocrites!! Maybe it’s time consider whose “art” we want to support in the future. After all if they won’t support our rights maybe it’s time to quit “supporting” theirs.

Tragedy in Connecticut

The tragedy in Connecticut is just that an unbelievable tragedy. However, now is not the time to politicize gun control by exploiting it. Now should be a time for healing and support for those affected.

Those who continue to use every tragedy they can to drive home their point should stop and reflect. These people continue to ignore the two most important facts. First, the guns are simply the murder weapon, in the absence of guns crazy people will find another weapon to do their evil. It is an old adage but it still true; “Guns don’t kill people, People kill people.” Second, another old adage “Outlaw guns and only outlaws will have guns.”

A few weeks ago when a Kansas City Chiefs player killed himself and his girlfriend, Bob Costas took the opportunity to editorialize on the Sunday Night Football that this was just another reason to step up gun control efforts. I thought at the time, “Really, this was a sick and mentally troubled person. If he didn’t have a gun he could have used any number of other ways to commit this horrible act.” People kill each other all around the world every day without guns. In fact the same day the Connecticut shootings occurred another crazy in China stabbed 22 people at a school.

Guns are not the problem, people are. If we want to slow down this increase in violence maybe we should be looking at our culture as a whole. Violent video games, movies, T.V. shows and music that glorifies violence, murder, rape and criminal behavior probably does more to negatively influence those that feel disenfranchised. This stimulus probably leads these individuals further down the path of destruction then access to a gun. The gun is just a tool to accomplish their objective and in its absence they would find something else.

In the end responsible gun owners should not have our second amendment rights taken away or reduced because of the reckless and deadly acts of a minute minority of the population. The government can not fix what happened in Connecticut with regulations. We need to address the root cause. This will take families, churches and people working to improve the moral fiber of our communities. In the end the problem is people, a gun is just a tool easily replaced with a knife, a club, poison, rope or any number of common items that can be made deadly in the wrong hands.

I will end with; my heart goes out to all those affected by this tragedy. It is an unthinkable crime committed against the most vulnerable among us by a clearly sick individual. Now is not the time for debate, now is the time for healing and reflection.

Gimme Back My Bullets

Working through the backdoor, radical leftist groups, the administration, the EPA and Regulatory Czar Cass Sunstein are carefully designing regulations to control the use of lead in products. While we all recognize the dangers associated with the use of lead in some products there is a hidden agenda in this effort.

The real target in this effort maybe unlegislated gun control. Using environmental concerns as their launching pad several environmental groups are asking the EPA to ban bullets, lead shot and even fishing sinkers claiming they contaminate the environment. The proposal relies on support from studies which claim that lead shot, ammo, sinkers, etc are killing animals that eat the lead fragments or other animals that were shot and contaminated by the ammo that killed them. These groups are citing the Toxic Substances Control Act as the vehicle to create these regulations.

The proposed regulations are a stretch and conflict with existing language within the act. There also is no precedent for the EPA to involve itself in regulations that interfere with second amendment gun rights. The NRA has already weighed in on this sending the EPA a letter pointing out that they are overstepping their authority.

You have to give these guys credit for creativity. If you can’t implement gun control legislation due to a lack of support then go after the ammunition on the basis of lead and render the guns useless. While there maybe alternatives to lead most would fall into the category of military grade ammunition such as the armor piercing variety which would create safety issues for law enforcement so that would also be shot down (no pun intended).

Fundamental transformation is underway! It is time to stop it in its tracks!

UN maneuvers to create “Global Gun Control”

In October unbeknownst to most of us, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced the Obama administration would reverse the Bush administration’s opposition to the UN’s proposed International Small Arms Treaty. This will clear the way for the treaty to reach a vote by the U.N. General Assembly. Seven countries, led by the British, are trying to restart U.N. efforts to restrict imports and exports of small arms. The goal is to “regulate the global arms trade” and “prevent the illegal transfer of guns.”

John Duncan, Britain’s ambassador for multilateral arms control and disarmament, describes the UN’s disarmament committee as launching point for a global treaty. The British believe their very stringent gun laws are the right direction for all countries. Now they intend to use the United Nations to bring their gun control model to the United States.

The irony of this effort is that since virtually banning guns in 1997, the UK has watched violent crime skyrocket by as much as 77% in some studies. The British Mail Online reports, “In the decade following [the election of the Labor Party] in 1997, the number of recorded violent attacks soared by 77 percent to 1.158 million – more than two every minute.” As a result the U.K. now has the highest violent crime rate in the European Union.

So what could this treaty require of its’ signatories, here is a quick overview according to The National Association For Gun Rights:

If passed by the UN and ratified by the U.S. Senate, the UN “Small Arms Treaty” would almost certainly FORCE national governments to:

  • Enact tougher licensing requirements, making law-abiding citizens cut through even more bureaucratic red tape just to own a firearm legally;
  • CONFISCATE and DESTROY ALL “unauthorized” civilian firearms (all firearms owned by the government are excluded, of course);
  • BAN the trade, sale and private ownership of ALL semi-automatic weapons;
  • Create an INTERNATIONAL gun registry, setting the stage for full-scale gun CONFISCATION.

Disguised as legislation to help in the fight against “terrorism,” “insurgency” and “international crime syndicates,” the UN Small Arms Treaty is nothing more than a massive, GLOBAL gun control scheme. To the petty dictators and one-worlders who control the UN, the U.S. isn’t a “shining city on a hill” — it’s an affront to their grand totalitarian designs for the globe. These anti-gun globalists know that so long as Americans remain free to make our own decisions without being bossed around by big government bureaucrats, they’ll NEVER be able to seize the worldwide oppressive power they crave.  Ultimately, the UN’s Small Arms Treaty is designed to register, ban and CONFISCATE firearms owned by private citizens like YOU.” So Patriots, here is yet another plan designed to usurp your rights which we need to defeat in 2010.

The gun-grabbers in the Obama administration and at the U.N. do not want us to have time to react and mobilize gun owners to defeat this radical treaty which if ratified steps on our 2nd Amendment rights. They (the UN) have been unsuccessfully trying to ram the “Treaty on Small Arms” down our throats since the mid-1990s. But this time they have an administration that appears willing to play along. The risk is high and the stakes are higher!

Wake up, America! Attempts to thwart our freedoms should be no surprise the anti-gun attitude of the current administration. We must turn the heat up on the U.S. Senate now before it’s too late! It takes 67 Senators to vote to ratify a treaty. Every freedom loving citizen needs to contact their Senator and tell them to vote against any attempt to ratify this treaty. This is just another attempt to give the U.N. jurisdiction over U.S. policy. On the heels of Obama’s recent Executive Order to provide Interpol with diplomatic level immunity from U.S. law and Constitutional behavior this is another slap in the face to our sovereignty.

Restore the Republic, Reject Global Governance!

“…to disarm the people is the best and most effective way to enslave them…” – George Mason

“The Constitution of most of our states (and of the United States) assert that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed and that they are entitled to freedom of person, freedom of religion, freedom of property, and freedom of press.” – Thomas Jefferson

Your Rights Under Attack … Guns are next!

“Those who trade freedom for security will find themselves with neither.” – Thomas Jefferson

Our rights and freedom remain under attack by the government. Free speech, privacy, excessive taxation and now it is time for guns…

So here comes Cass Sunstein, the Regulatory Czar who has been trying to convince the Senate committee responsible for his confirmation as head of The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs that he will support the 2nd Amendment.

Think about this title, head of The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs – read his book, Nudge. Learn about his total philosphy. This is a scary man. He will have the ability to affect all types of government regulations across a broad spectrum of the government regulatory agencies.

In a letter to explain his position, Mr. Sunstein wrote: “Your first question involved the Second Amendment. I strongly believe that the Second Amendment creates an individual right to possess and use guns for purposes of both hunting and self-defense. I agree with the Supreme Court’s decision in the Heller case, clearly recognizing the individual right to have guns for hunting and self-defense. If confirmed, I would respect the Second Amendment and the individual right that it recognizes.”

However, a videotape of a speech made on Oct. 23, 2007, Sunstein said something quite different. He said: “My coming view is that the individual right to bear arms reflects the success of an extremely aggressive and resourceful social movement and has much less to do with good standard legal arguments than [it] appears.” Later in the same lecture, Sunstein said, “My tentative suggestion is that the individual right to have guns as it’s being conceptualized now is best taken as a contemporary creation and a reflection of current fears – not a reading of civic-centered founding debates.”

“[A]lmost all gun control legislation is constitutionally fine. And if the Court is right, then fundamentalism does not justify the view that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to bear arms. ”

– Cass Sunstein, writing in his book, “Radicals in Robes”

Sunstein delivered a keynote speech at Harvard University’s 2007 “Facing Animals” conference in which he states, “We ought to ban hunting, I suggest, if there isn’t a purpose other than sport and fun. That should be against the law. It’s time now.”

So which position does he really believe? There is a very disturbing trend here. It seems that many of Obama’s appointees have two positions; the one they say they support to get appointed and the one they clearly favored in the weeks, months or years before their appointments.

FIREARMS REFRESHER COURSE

2. Those who trade liberty for security have neither. ~John Adams

3. Free men do not ask permission to bear arms.

4. An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.

5. Only a government that is afraid of its citizens tries to control them.

6. Gun control is not about guns; it’s about control.

7. You only have the rights you are willing to fight for.

8. Know guns, know peace, know safety. No guns, no peace, no safety.

9. You don’t shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive.

10. Assault is a behavior, not a device.

11. 64,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday.

12. The United States Constitution (c) 1791. All Rights Reserved.

13. The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore

the others.

14. What part of ‘shall not be infringed’ do you NOT understand?

15. Guns have only two enemies; rust and politicians.

16. When you remove the people’s right to bear arms, you create slaves.

17. The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control.

Another Czar, another crazy progressive. Should we call a time out and vet all the Czars? It appears many of these people are well out of the mainstream with their ideologies. The people helping the President create policy should be in touch with citizens they serve. I’d to see a comprehensive list from the White House of  the positions that have been created, the purpose/need for the role, who is filling it and why they are qualified. Remember transparency? Also does the President agree with their views on policy? Bottom line is this is blurring the lines of separation of powers as designed by the founding fathers in the Constitution. It is time for transparency! Or time to get rid of all these special appointments unless there is a public vetting and some Congressional oversight.
