So here are some stats to help you when you are discussing the election with your undecided friends. These are the facts and the numbers don’t lie. It doesn’t take a CPA to figure out if something doesn’t change quickly we are headed for an economic collapse. The tipping point is already on the horizon…

So there you have it. The numbers speak for themselves. We can’t afford to keep spending at these levels and increasing taxes stunts growth while killing jobs. We saw the same trends during the Carter Administration. Reagan corrected the problem by managing down the size of government and cutting taxes to stimulate growth. We rode that wave all the way through the Clinton Administration. We can do it again but not with a president that is more interested in “redistribution” than growth and creating opportunity.

2016: Obama’s America – A Review

I decided to watch this movie On Demand this morning because I was in the mood for a little politics and could not bear watching the usual Sunday morning talking heads. I must admit I had low expectations going in and no idea exactly what to expect. I was very surprised for two reasons. First, I was surprised at how balanced the approach was – no hysteria or over the top attacks or accusations. Second, the movie took a methodical approach to laying out the facts around what shaped Obama’s beliefs and how his personal story may have forged his philosophy. In short it does not appear to be a hatchet job.

Creative forces behind the film

Dinesh D’Souza – Author of the New York Times Bestseller The Roots of Obama’s Rage which serves in part as the basis for this film. D’Souza wasborn in Mumbai, India and has truly lived the American Dream. He moved to the United States to attend Dartmouth College. Upon graduation he went to work in the Reagan White House as a policy analyst. He has been a fellow of the Hoover Institute at Stanford University and the American Enterprise Institute. His other book titles include the popular What’s So Great About Christianity, Letters to a Young Conservative, and The End of Racism.

Gerald R. Molen – produced many of the most memorable films in the last three decades including blockbusters like Jurassic Park, Twister, Days of Thunder, Hook and Minority Report. He was a producer for the Academy Award winning film Schindler’s List and co-producer for Rain Man which won the Oscar for Best Picture.

After watching this film, a lot of the things that I instinctively believed seem to have been confirmed. Using Obama’s own words from speeches and his book “Dreams from my Father” it’s hard to deny that there is a well guarded side of the president that if fully revealed would change the opinion of many. The movie lays out a credible case for a personal agenda that does not align with traditional American values. The president has said many times that his election would begin a fundamental change of America. This film definitely creates a glimpse of not only what will shape this change but also who is influencing the direction and what it might ultimately look like.

If you love the America of our grandparents, believe in the American Dream and the Constitution created by our founders – you owe it to yourself and your country to watch this film and decide if this is the Change you want.

The Conservative Revolution: The Truth about the Real America

 Since early 2009 a conservative backlash has been brewing in America. It started slowly with a few small local Tea Party rallies, mostly focused on the impact of high income tax and excessive government spending on families, the economy and America. Tax Day (April 15^th) 2008 marked a turning point as rallies large and small were held across the nation. Suddenly conservatives realized two things – there were a lot more of us than we realized and we could loosely organize to make a difference.

 The nationwide Tax Day rallies were the result of a grassroots internet campaign. These rallies were self funded and run almost exclusively at the local level. I know – I was one of the organizers of the St. Paul MN rally held on the steps of the state capitol building. Our rally drew over 7,000 attendees that day. Even in liberal Minnesota there were signs of the coming backlash.

 So here we are nearly two years later and halfway through the first term of the Obama presidency. Obama was swept into office with a message of “Hope and Change”. Many of those who voted for him bought into the slick marketing of his campaign. They believed that this president would right the wrongs and end government as usual. He promised fairness as well as a new prosperity that would make America a better place and people bought it. His campaign positioned him as “the post racial president”, a healer and center left moderate but in reality he is a progressive.  As people began to realize who they had elected the euphoria which reined after his election quickly turned to discontentment.

The mood of America is now colored with grim concern. The independents and blue dog democrats that helped elect Obama have come to realize that he does not share their values or belief in the American way of life. In fact, they finally understand what Obama meant when he said that “we are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America” in an Oct. 31, 2008 speech in Missouri. Obama and his cohorts would like to create a new foundation for America, a foundation based on progressive values which have their roots in socialism/communism.

Their idea of government would be more of the European model of a socialist democracy with over reaching government controls, entitlements and heavy taxes to support a “nanny state” approach to “social justice”. There are two major problems with this model. First, it doesn’t work. It has not worked anywhere it was tried. It’s already falling apart in the liberals current favorite example of social democracy, Venezuela.  Second, Europe is an economic disaster. Its’ citizens are rioting in the streets as their governments try to figure out how to make good on all the entitlements they promised as their economies tank. (See Greece, France and Portugal for examples) To add additional salt to the wound, European society has begun to spiral out of control as years of “open borders and society” has resulted in a Muslim occupation in some areas of Europe leading to bitter fights over the secular rule of law versus Sharia law. These are all consequences of a social democracy.

If we are not careful we will end up in the same place. Just this year, the Congressional Budget Office said that our national debt as a percentage of GDP will triple by 2035 which would be 185% of GDP. This represents nothing short of an economic train wreck.

To stay on a path that leads to a social democracy would be a fundamental transformation of America! As it turns out though this is not what most Americans want. Most Americans (75% overall) still believe in the American Dream and traditional American values according to recent surveys. Here are some other findings of recent polls that indicate that America is still a Christian leaning, patriotic, capitalist, center right country with traditional values:

• The majority of Americans in every age group still believe that America is the land of opportunity.
• 75% of Americans still believe “America is the greatest country in the world”.
• 80% of Americans claim Christianity as their religion and 50% of Americans believe life in the United States would be better if more people lived Christian values
• 64% of voters say the country is on the wrong track and this number is steadily increasing.
• 90% of Mainstream voters favor a free market economy. 75% of likely voters overall believe in a free market economy rather than one controlled by the government.
• 58% of all voters favor increased competition over increased government regulation as the best way to hold big business accountable.
• 65% of voters overall, prefer a government with fewer services and lower taxes rather than one with more services and higher taxes. Even 32% of Democrats now prefer a government with fewer services and lower taxes.
• 83% of Americans believe it is somewhat likely that the federal government will have to cut government spending in the next 10 years.
• 53% of likely U.S. voters favor repeal of the health care law, including 43% who Strongly Favor repeal.
• 51% of Americans believe the healthcare law will increase the federal deficit. Only 30% believe it will reduce it.

It appears that Americans are reconnecting with their values. Sometimes it takes hardship to reawaken our spirits. I believe that recent times have taught us to value our freedom and our way of life. So now that we have the momentum to change the direction of our country and return to our core values, what’s our next move?

First, we must remember that the Republican Party has been a part of the problem as much as the Democrats for the past 20 years. Many moderate Republicans are progressives, too.

If we give the Republicans our votes – it should be done with this clear message – you work for us and from now on you will be held accountable for each and every vote you cast. No more back room deals, no more compromising. You campaigned on a platform that earned our votes, in return you need to vote the agenda that got you elected. If you don’t there won’t be another term.

This is the message that needs to be sent. No more politics as usual. There are many new faces on the political scene this year – most are riding the resurgent conservative wave. Hopefully they are who they say they are. Republicans, Independents and Tea Party candidates need to now do what is necessary to put America back on the right track. It’s time.

Communists at the Front Door

In part 1 of this blog series I provided some historical context to the changes that we are witnessing to the American way of life and our government. What we are witnessing is an attempt to “fundamentally transform America” that has been decades in the making.

Today, we have a President that does not respect the America that many of us are so proud of. Instead, he is ashamed of American exceptionalism as well as the traditions of patriotism, a representative republic, a free market economy and society based on a higher power, equal justice and natural law.

The President has built his administration on a foundation of revolutionaries, progressives, socialists, and communists dedicated to “fundamentally transforming America” now! Their agenda includes redistribution of wealth, central planning, a controlling federal government and a policy of “social justice” that takes from some to give to others.

In the process of this transformation – our rights, our liberties, our freedoms and the Constitution are being trampled. The President and his cohorts consider the Constitution to be a “charter of negative liberties” and an outdated document from which to govern.

His goals and ideas sound so harmless when he is selling in general terms… healthcare, education, home ownership and good jobs for all. But watch closely and listen carefully. The way to this Utopia is through government control, sacrifice and socialism. The administration panders to labor unions, community organizers and environmental activists to help drive their message, which is clear – We MUST legislate to create a just society, we must create social programs to level the playing field between rich, middle class, and the poor… We MUST raise taxes on those who are successful in order to raise the revenues needed to fund these programs.

Make no mistake – we are being herded down a path toward socialism but that may not be where the path ends. Socialism is often only a stage between democracy and communism. Socialism is idealistic and strives to benevolent. However, as freedoms are lost and people push back, socialism can quickly morph into communism. Unfortunately, history shows that communism is quite comfortable with oppression.

Below is a list of goals from Marx’s “The Communist Manifesto”. Compare it to the list of goals read into the Congressional Record by FL. Congressman Albert Herlong in 1963 (found in Part 1 of this series):

1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.

2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.

3. Abolition of all right of inheritance.

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.

5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.

6. Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the state.

7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state; the bringing into cultivation of wastelands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.

8. Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.

9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equable distribution of the population over the country.

10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children’s factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc., etc.

Now think about what has happened in the last 18 months to the banking system, the auto industry and the demonizing of “big business“ as a whole. Consider the various pieces of legislation which have already passed or are pending – healthcare reform, financial services reform, Cap & Trade, immigration reform to name a few. Also don’t forget the regulatory moves being quietly made on things such as “net neutrality”, greenhouse gas, federal land grabs, cyber security and international (U.N.) small arms treaty which is code for international gun control. Last but not least there are Obama’s Executive Orders which include the creation of the Council of Governors, creation of the Federal Debt Commission, creation of the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force and the ones reversing things like bans on using federal funds to support international abortion programs or giving the U.S. government oversight of INTERPOL operations in the U.S.

And now we have Czars for everything. What are we Russia? A Pay Czar, an Energy Czar, a Climate Change Czar, a Manufacturing Czar, a FCC Diversity Czar, the list is long – over thirty and counting. These positions are not under Congressional control and report directly to the president. This is where many of the radicals are added – out of the reach of Congress and the need for Congressional approval. There they can safely work on policies and regulations to push forward the real agenda.

Of course, for good measure we have bail outs that lead to government takeovers. One way or the other the deck is stacked to advance the cause – which is socialism.

Do you know what else we have? We have self proclaimed progressives, socialists and communists working openly in our government. Worse yet, the entire movement has all but come out! We have members of Congress who are members of the Progressive Caucus which has worked openly with the Democratic Socialists of America. More and more those on the left are acknowledging they are progressives or socialists.

On May 31st, C-SPAN even covered the keynote speech by Sam Webb to the Communist Party USA. Mr. Webb gave a long, rambling speech in which he touched on several interseting and frightening topics:

• they (CP-USA) have worked with Obama’s organization to help with his election
• that while Obama isn’t doing everything they want it is still progress in the right direction
• that the Democrats represent the ground floor and that they must continue to work hard to support their reelections in 2010 so that conservatives do not gain ground back
• referred to this process as “an evolution”
• said they must continue to leverage social media and their relationships with other organizations such as MoveOn, La Raza, NOW, Organizing For America (BO’s group), the NAACP and the AFL-CIO to keep the pressure on to move the agenda forward
• praised recent student and labor protests – saying stay tuned and be ready to shift gears and become more radical… this led to round of “Yes, We Can!” chants
• said the public needed to be “nudged” so they could bend public policy
• made a call to support more militancy and civil disobedience
• stated they would continue to push for release of the Cuban 5
• referred to Tea Party members as a “conservative racist counter offensive”
• said the country needs a “new deal”
• we need to create “new public property”
• said “capitalism is incompatible with human aspirations, with a decent life and the future of the planet”
• Said the country needs “state owned or worker co-op owned businesses”, coordinated central planning and real ownership of social property
• businesses should be built for sustainability not growth and that we should adopt socialist patterns of production and consumption
• said there is a “new necessity for socialism”

Again, this was on C-SPAN. I am all for freedom of speech but the Tea Party can’t get this kind of coverage – ask yourself – Why? Remember, Webb acknowledged his group’s efforts to support the White House (Organizing For America), the unions and all the other usual suspects. If they didn’t see common goals would they be supporting them?

Do you still believe that this can’t happen in America? Well, whether you believe it or not, it is! The only question left is – do you care enough to stop it? What will it take to get Americans to come out of their trances, to step back from their own lives and daily struggles long enough to realize what is happening to their country? I DO NOT believe that we have reach a point as a nation that we are ready to stop being America and start being some neutered, European version of our once proud nation!

As the 4th of July approaches, it is time to reflect on the true history of our country and all America has stood for around the world. Despite what the President might think – we are a good and great nation made up of people with moral fiber and character. We are not perfect and like all people we have made mistakes as a nation. From time to time we elect the wrong people to lead us and they make mistakes too. However, the record will show that we have been on the right side more times than not.

Those who want to take us down have waited a long time for their opportunity. For a time when America would be weak and divided. A time when America had lost its’ way. We are standing at the crossroads of history. It is time to decide – do we return to the principles, beliefs and values that made us great? Or do we allow political correctness, the flawed concept of “social justice” and a godless culture that lacks spirituality win? We are surrounded by a world in chaos. To save our nation, our way of life and traditions we must return to the values of our founders – belief in God and the principles of our Constitution.

The Communist Progress Report – Part 1

When will Americans begin to realize that communism still has a target on the back of our nation? The communist movement in America went underground for a few decades while they worked on executing the plans they had laid out in the ‘40’s, 50’s and 60’s. Now since the turn of the new century they have become bold as they more openly execute on the groundwork they laid over those quieter years.

As a few points of historical reference consider the following:

1959 – In a meeting between Agriculture Secretary Ezra Taft Benson and Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev: “At one point during Khrushchev’s visit, the Soviet Premier boasted to the Agriculture Secretary that Benson’s own grandchildren would live under Communism. Benson replied that he would do all in his power to assure that Khrushchev’s and all other grandchildren would live under freedom. According to Benson’s personal account, Khrushchev responded: “You Americans are so gullible. No, you won’t accept communism outright, but we’ll keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you’ll finally wake up and find you already have communism.”

Jan. 10, 1963 – At the urging of Patricia Nordman of De Land, Fla., who was a vocal and active opponent of communism, Rep. Albert Herlong of FL., with unanimous consent of the House of Representatives read into the record the “Current Communist Goals” for America as outlined in the Cleon Skousen book, “The Naked Communist”. Skousken put together this list as a FBI researcher monitoring communist activities in the U.S.

Read this frightening list below:

CURRENT COMMUNIST GOALS:

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.
2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.
3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament by the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.
4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.
5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.
6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.
7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.
8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushehev’s promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free election under supervision of the U.N.
9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.
10. Allow all soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.
11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N. as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.)
12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.
13. Do away with all loyalty oaths.
14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.
15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.
16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.
17. Get control of schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers, associations. Put the party line in textbooks.
18. Gain control of all student newspapers.
19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.
20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.
21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.
22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.”
23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.”
24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.
25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio and TV.
26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity, as “normal, natural, healthy.”
27. Infiltrate the churches and replace repealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a “religious crutch.”
28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principles of “separation of church and state.”
29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.
30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.”
31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the “big picture.” Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.
32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture-education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.
33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.
34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.
35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.
36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.
37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business.
38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand or treat.
39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.
40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.
41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.
42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition: that students and special interest groups should rise up and use united force to solve economic, political or social problems.
43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.
44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.

Many will debate whether this is an actual list of goals from the U.S. branch of the Communist Party or just the ravings of a former FBI researcher. At the time though, it had enough credence to be included in the Congressional Record. Either way it is a fascinating list that mirrors many of the events and changes to our society over the past 47 years. So is this real or merely a coincidence?

Today, many of the items on this list could be checked off. U.S. history has been rewritten and diluted. My teachers would recognize what passes for U.S. History today. The Constitution is under attack. Our President refers to it s a “charter of negative liberties”. Our children are being taught that socialism and social justice are cool new concepts. Hollywood and the entertainment industry represent the uber-left. They use their medium and fashion to send their messages. They do not understand the history of communism and who people like “Che” Guevara, Mao and Stalin really were. Political correctness has destroyed religion as part of the fabric of our country, leading to an erosion of morals. Prayer in school and the Pledge of Allegiance are no longer tolerated. God and Christmas are considered offensive. Corporations, capitalism and a free market economy are being “villianized” at every opportunity and being blamed for all of our problems. Let’s not forget the unions, the president seems to have a cozy relationship with all of them… SEIU, AFL-CIO, NEA and the UAW just to name a few. Also in the last week, President Obama met with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and announced they have “succeeded in resetting” the relationship, even endorsing Russia’s entrance to the World Trade Organization. Still maybe, just maybe this is just an enormous coincidence, right?

At this point it would be difficult for a rational human being to not see the relationship between the current administration and the forces of socialism in America? This should lead to the conclusion that this administration and many of its’ key players are in fact agents of an attempt to “transform” the U.S. into what is now being solid a “socialist democracy”. It should be obvious in the people who are being selected for key government posts Van Jones, Anita Dunn, Mark Lloyd, Carol Browner, Cass Sunstein and Ron Bloom to name a few. These people are all either confessed socialists, communists, radicals or admirers of dictators.

Wake up America! Your freedoms, your liberties and your country’s sovereignty are hanging by thread. The infrastructure is being erected inside our government and soon their will be no turning back. We are on the path to socialism which usually results in communism. In communism, there has yet to be a happy ending.

Part 2: Communists at the Front Door

Natural Law vs. Positive Law

When the founders of America set out to form a better type of government they had a clear historical perspective of the type of government they did not want. They knew that monarchies and arbitrary power were the enemies of freedom. Using this knowledge they created a republican form of government that by design was based on “natural law” rather than positive law.

So what is natural law? Natural law begins with the premise that all of our rights come from God or nature and are inherent to our being. Positive law, on the other hand, believes that our rights are granted by the government, society or other men and therefore can be taken back by them as well. Positive law is the basis for the concept of social justice which attempts to subvert natural law and create artificial equality through regulations or force. This goes against the very essence of human nature. In other words, laws created by men are always secondary to natural law which emanates from human nature itself.

With first hand understanding of the pain and injustice suffered throughout Europe at the hands of monarchs, the founders built a government that used natural law as its foundation. Beginning with the Declaration of Independence the theme on which America was established was natural law.

“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.” – The United States of America, Declaration of Independence

With natural law as the foundation of our government, the founders formalized their intent with the establishment of our Constitution. The very intent of the Constitution is to uphold natural law by restraining the government. The Constitution not only recognizes that we have natural rights but, that we are free to exercise these rights. In fact the one of the primary purposes of our government is to protect our natural rights. The Constitution does not grant us rights, it was designed to prevent the government from trampling those rights in pursuit of its own goals.

Natural law is the antithesis of positive law which is based on theories of majority rules, rights are granted and the government’s goal is to serve the majority. In this form of government the will of those in power is enforced and the minority is left unprotected, their rights at risk. The government becomes the arbitrator of right and wrong. This is where things historically go very wrong because human nature is inherent.

Through reason we can determine the requirements of natural law. The only time natural law curtails the rights of an individual is when that individual has acted against others by violating their natural rights. Under this system due process is used to evaluate and determine punishment for such crimes. In a society based on natural law abridgement of these morals are the only time an individual is subject to losing their own natural rights.

However in a society based on positive and in turn, social justice, the government may take away rights, property, liberty or freedom based on the greater societal goals/needs.

This is what is happening today. The government is passing laws and removing liberties all in the name of the “greater good” or “social justice”. This is unconstitutional and a violation of our “unalienable rights” as outlined in the Constitution.

Today’s Progressives have tried to revert to and reinvigorate the ideals of FDR’s Second Bill of Rights which attempts to create equality and social justice through the force of law. It goes against every principle of natural law. Throughout history this approach has never worked. While all men are created equal, they will not equally achieve. To infringe upon the natural production of one by taking away from another to create “equity” is to create class warfare and undermine individual freedom and liberty. This naturally results in oppression and rebellion, ultimately destroying the artificial society that the government created.

In their wisdom and from their experiences the founding fathers recognized this. That is why they created a government rooted in the principles of natural law. A government designed with a separation of powers and a Constitution designed to protect individual rights and freedoms while limiting the size, scope and authority of the government over the governed.

Somewhere we took a wrong turn and the government the founders desired to prevent has become a reality. It is time to make a U turn and return to the safety of our Constitution before it is too late.

Progressives paving the road to Socialism

This week a group of left wing radicals assembled at a conference in Washington, D.C. under the banner of the Campaign for America’s Future. This group was a Who’s, Who’s of the progressive movement in America. The speaker list included; Nancy Pelosi, Van Jones, Jesse Jackson, Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins, Howard Dean, Robert Creamer, Deepak Bhargava, Andy Stern, Arlene Holt Baker, Markos Moulitsas, Yosi Sergant, Arianna Huffington, Alan Grayson and Janet Murguía to name a few. Every aspect of the socialist spectrum was represented at this conference. There were over 100 speakers that covered every major type of left wing organization: unions, social justice groups, environmental activists, community organizers, pro left media and even La Raza, the ultra radical Hispanic civil rights and immigration/advocacy organization.

Read this closely and in it you find a low key manifesto for the progressive agenda. It is full of sweeping generalities about conservative failures but fails to be specific about solutions. However the language is designed to appeal to the socialist mindset with its’ themes of equality and redistribution. It even makes an attempt to be patriotic with its’ reference to the Declaration of Independence.

In response to the question, who else do you work with on your progressive agenda, their web site says:

“To maximize the strength of the progressive movement, Campaign for America’s Future regularly convenes organizers and activists to help forge powerful coalitions. Here are just a few examples.

Our annual Take Back America conference is the nation’s premier progressive gathering, attracting thousands to develop solutions, hone strategies, and fortify our movement. Along with Americans United for Change and USAction, we brought together nearly 40 organizations to create the Change America Now (CAN) coalition, which promotes legislation providing economic security to all families. We work with the Economic Policy Institute and Center for American Progress Action Fund to host the biweekly Tuesday Group, where congressional aides, union strategists, scholars, pollsters and advocates share insight on progressive messaging and public opinion so we can elevate the national debate”.

When asked who funds them, the answer is more evasive:

“Campaign for America’s Future is financed through the donations of various organizations, foundations and individual supporters”.

However, further research shows that partners and sponsors include; MoveOn.org, NetRoots Nation, Progressive Majority, Center for Community Change, Progressive Congress.org, Progressive Book Club, National Education Association and People for the American Way.

This is not an insignificant movement. Look at who is involved. Look at the changes they have already made, healthcare reform being the most significant. They are spending us into ruin. Our government is being taken over from the inside with the help of elected officials, teachers, powerful labor unions, and community organizers. This group is smart, well funded and organized. They know they have limited window of time to move their agenda forward. They (the progressives) have no intention of squandering an opportunity that they have waited 80 years for. America had better wake up soon because time is of the essence. Every day another piece of the infrastructure is put in place and our fate becomes more uncertain.

 Don’t just read the words, focus on the messaging. Look at the conference sessions and understand what they are teaching.

Remember President-elected Obama said, “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America”. Well ever since he took office he has been working hard to deliver on that promise.

Here are collection of interesting quotes and comments from their America’s Future Now Conference that prove that the left is dissatisfied with the speed of change. They want more and they want it faster.

According to Arianna Huffington, the easy part was getting Obama elected. However she said, “Bipartisanship is not the way to fundamental change…Why isn’t greater urgency coming out of Washington to solve Main Street’s problems? She went on to suggest, we need “Hope 2.0,” and we (the progressives) need to “take matters into our own hands.”

Roger Hickey, co director of Campaign for America, “many hoped that Obama would lead the movement to stand up to corporate interests… Is this Obama’s problem or is it ours? What can we do to ensure that Obama achieves that transformation?”

The speakers accused the President of being “too timid” and “too reluctant to draw clear ideological differences” and that as a result the “right-wing gained greater traction than it otherwise might have.”

CAF’s other co-director Robert Borosage said, “We will have to fight… We have to revive our independent movement. We have to stop waiting for Obama. We have to take on conservatives in both parties. The progressive movement must organize independent of the Democratic administration to effect change”.

And how about this beauty from self admitted communist, Van Jones… you remember Van Jones who in a magazine interview described himself this way:

Leading up to Rodney King trial, Jones said, “I was a just rowdy black nationalist on April 28th [1992], and then the verdicts came down on April 29th. By August, I was a communist. (…) I met all these young radical people of color – I mean really radical: communists and anarchists. And it was, like, ‘This is what I need to be a part of.’ I spent the next ten years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary”.

At the recent CAF conference, Jones had this to say, “I think that when we look back to the history of the Obama administration and look back at the history of our progressive movement, that this week will mark a historic inflection point when progressives decided to be progressive again in this country. I think something shifted this week”.   — I wonder he means?

Make no mistake, the progressives are committed to their agenda and they will not give in to a return to conservative American values without a fight. They will use every tool at their disposal to win. They are trying to convince the weak and the lazy among us that they can create an all powerful government that will ensure a “fairer, more humane society” which will take care of everyone equally through policies based in “social justice”. All they need to accomplish this is a little more power.

“You can reach out to your fellow young people and make it clear to them that where they may not be satisfied with everything we’ve done — we’re not satisfied with everything we’ve done. The way to cure that is to give us more authority and more ability”. – Rep. Barney Frank, D-MA

However, history would argue a different case. Power corrupts. Each and every time socialism, communism or fascism is tried, two things happen – the citizens become enslaved by the government they thought would protect them and many of them die as a result. And of course, freedom and liberty are lost.

The transformation is underway. If the people in charge have their way we are headed for a hybrid government which is part communist and part fascist. See definitions below:

Communism: the political theory or system in which all property and wealth is owned in a classless society by all the members of that society

Fascism: a movement, ideology, or attitude that favors dictatorial government, centralized control of private enterprise, repression of all opposition, and extreme nationalism

If you merge the bolded parts of each you end up where we appear to be headed as follows: “a movement, ideology, or attitude that favors a classless society, centralized control of private enterprise and repression of all opposition”

America, do I have you attention yet? 

In the words of Buffalo Springfield, “ There’s something happening here, What it is ain’t exactly clear … I think it’s time we stop, children, what’s that sound? Everybody look what’s going down”!

Pay attention, your country is depending on you. The founding fathers warned us this could happen. Stand up, Be counted, Make your voice hear.

A Prophecy from the Past?

“…had they not at the urging of the President, assented to the dissolution of the courts of appeal, including the Supreme Court? Sections of the press had only too delightedly danced in the wake of the debased Government, shouting that the “enemies of the people” constituted all politicians and private citizens who exposed Communists in Washington bureaus and the great labor unions. Other enemies according to the White House and its subservient press, had been newspaper men who had denounced the growing power of the military and men and women who had testified in court as to Communist activities in public means of communications. (Still other “traitors” belonged to the American Legion, for the Legion had been to vigorous in its condemnations of all radicals, Communists, “progressives” and other nondescript bleeding-hearts and do-gooders with a grudge against prideful and self-respecting men. The Legion had been outlawed.)

…American Communists had received preferred treatment in both public and private employment…. They continued to work strenuously and anonymously in the Cabinet, itself, and had directed foreign policy. They had raised their voices only when they had denounced “reactionaries,” that is, men and women who were desperately concerned over the growing influence of Communism in every phase of American life. No honorable citizen had been immune from their attacks, which took the form of persecution by various bureaus, including the Bureau of Internal Revenue and local police departments. At the end, these infamous creatures had turned against their milky friends, the so-called “liberals,” when the latter had awakened to the nightmare which had invaded their nebulous reality.

It had been piteous enough when the “liberals” had finally understood what they had been enthusiastically supporting for several decades in the name of Socialism or “social justice.” When fully confronted by the monster they had helped to bring into being, they had been aghast, and had attempted a pathetic revolt. They had cried a feeble warning to the people. But the warning had come too late, not only for the people, but for themselves. The full fury of the monster had been turned against them and they had died by the thousands…” – Taylor Caldwell, The Devil’s Advocate (1952)

If you read the passage above again and substitute a few words ( mainstream media for subservient press, conservative talk show hosts for newspaper men, Tea Party for American Legion) and it starts to sound eerily familiar.

Today’s blog is a book review of sorts of Taylor Caldwell’s 1952 novel The Devil’s Advocate. This book is a must read for everyone who cares about what is happening to America.  This classic novel is a story about a future America which has descended into a government that has become a cross between a communist state and a dictatorship. While the primary storyline is about the fight to restore the republic and regain freedom the book contains numerous background passages that tell how America’s demise was engineered. What is frightening is that many of these passages align with the current events of today and recent years.

While some might try to draw comparisons to Orwell’s “1984” the difference is that Caldwell makes a direct connection to the early history of the “American progressive movement,” the deceptive seduction of “progressivism” and the loss of freedom that follows. The story’s subplot is about how the American people slowly trade freedom, liberty and dignity for the promise of “personal security” provided by an enormous federal government and corrupt labor unions. In her novel, Caldwell shrewdly points to events which leads to the country’s descent into a socialist dictatorship which include the abrogation of the Constitution, indoctrination of the young through the education system, the rewriting of history, the abolition of state’s rights, the use of national emergencies to create additional government power and the destruction of religion. She also describes the intentional creation of class warfare as a means to divide and conquer the citizens.

In another passage from the book, the speaker scolds the citizens about their roles in their own eventual enslavement by the government…

“But you, my people, were not guiltless, not guiltless in your own ruin. Freedom, once so imbedded in the hearts of all Americans, was surrendered by Americans who believed the sinister men who were determined to enslave them. It was to be for a limited time only, we were assured. But tyrants never relinquish the powers they have gained; they incorporate them in perpetual law. It was done so quietly, so skillfully. A nation will fight when its full liberty is threatened, and the full plot exposed. But if liberties are subdued, little by little, no provocation for a nationwide revolt is given. Like thieves in the night, who move stealthily and without sound, so did evil men move in your former free government, robbing away the heart and the body of your liberty, denuding your homes of its treasures, slowly stifling your tongues, imperceptibly silencing your press. They invaded the schoolrooms of your children, poisoning and debasing their minds, twisting them to their purposes so that future generations would not know of honor and pride and the might of free men.”

The themes of this book are powerful, timely and frightening. In the book the world has become an unrecognizable place. It is a world that is now controlled by the far left while a small group of patriots work to reinvigorate the down trodden citizens to restore the republic and American values. Using themes of social justice, political correctness, unity, duty and sacrifice the government has enslaved the citizens, making them a nationalized workforce and reducing all to a standard of living that breaks their spirit.

Wake up, America! We are at a major cross road in our history. Our current federal government is in expansion mode. They want control of everything and they will use all the tools at their disposal to gain it. We are witnessing an era of American politics unlike any other. The backroom deals to pass legislation, the arm twisting by the administration, the use of regulatory agencies to move forward agenda items when legislation fails, the coddling of labor unions, the open discussion of redistribution of wealth, the ignoring/belittling of the Constitution, the continued assault on the role of God in society and the demonizing of capitalism/free market economics… the list goes on and on, but never before have these happened in such quantity in so overt a manner.

It is time for those who believe that the America, that once represented a “shining light” to the world, should return to its former glory, to get involved and help lead the return. You can do this by using your voice and your vote to take responsibility for your country … it is your civic responsibility.

As the book warns:

“ While you still had a measure of liberty and could vote vile tyrants and corrupt men out office, you listened, instead, to the promises of those men, and you voted honorable and decent men out of office.”

And,

“On the day when you again allow abominable men to confiscate your freedom, your money, your lives, your private property, your manhood and your sacred honor, in the name of “security’ or “national emergency’ you will die, and never again shall you be free. If plotters again destroy your Republic, they will do it by your greedy and ignorant assent, by your disregard of your neighbors’ rights, by your apathy and your stupidity.

We were brought to the brink of universal death and darkness because we had become that most contemptible of people — an angerless one. Keep alive and vivid all your righteous anger against traitors, against those who would abrogate your Constitution…”

Woody Allen: Actor, Director, IDIOT!

As reported in my previous posts, Hollywood is loaded with left wing moon bats of all varieties but Woody Allen may have achieved a new level of Bananas. Forget Sean Penn, he is merely a Chavez admirer. Woody wants to make Obama our dictator. That’s right, our dictator.

Seems Woody is very happy with the President but thinks his job performance is being hindered by all the formalities of a republic.

Allen was recently interviewed by La Vanguardia, a Spanish language newspaper. In the interview Allen is quoted as saying, “I am pleased with Obama. I think he’s brilliant. The Republican Party should get out of his way and stop trying to hurt him.” He went on to say, “it would be good…if he could be a dictator for a few years because he could do a lot of good things quickly.”

Do you suppose Woody actually understands the concept of a dictatorship? A dictatorship is an autocratic form of absolute rule by leadership unrestricted by law or constitutions. This hardly seems like a government to aspire to. Does Woody understand that this is real life not a movie – that you don’t just have dictator for a little while and then they just step down and things go back to normal? Or is he just a spoiled American who does not appreciate what he has been blessed with? People from around the come to America to escape dictators. Oh by the way Woody, typically dictators are not known for their good works.

Comments like these are unbelievable. Does Woody Allen realize that all of his success, his ability to express himself and the opportunity to earn his fortune are impart due to the freedom he has an American? Can he really be this naïve? Why is it that those who have so much seem to have so little common sense?

And now the Oscar for Biggest Idiot in a Leading Role…. Woody Allen!

So here is the irony in what Woody and the rest of the Hollywood moon bats believe, the very movement that they support is responsible for the financial condition of California. If California is the model of the type of nanny state government, they can keep it!

Wake up America! Forget what spoiled celebrities tell you, study the issues and make up your own mind. The moon bats would have you believe that the governments of Venezuela and Cuba are models to aspire to. And they are, if you want state controlled oil companies, state controlled media and government control of every aspect of your life. That is the direction we are headed if we don’t stop the progressive movement. Your inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are under attack. It is time to stand up for our country, our Constitution and our way of life.

Kagan, Socialism & Free Speech

Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan, wrote in her Princeton senior thesis, titled, “To the Final Conflict: Socialism in New York City, 1900-1933”, “In our own times, a coherent socialist movement is nowhere to be found in the United States. Americans are more likely to speak of a golden past than of a golden future, of capitalism’s glories than of socialism’s greatness. Conformity overrides dissent; the desire to conserve has overwhelmed the urge to alter. Such a state of affairs cries out for explanation. Why, in a society by no means perfect, has a radical party never attained the status of a major political force? Why, in particular, did the socialist movement never become an alternative to the nation’s established parties?”

“Through its own internal feuding, then, the SP exhausted itself forever and further reduced labor radicalism in New York to the position of marginality and insignificance from which it has never recovered. The story is a sad but also a chastening one for those who, more than half a century after socialism’s decline, still wish to change America. Radicals have often succumbed to the devastating bane of sectarianism; it is easier, after all, to fight one’s fellows than it is to battle an entrenched and powerful foe. Yet if the history of Local New York shows anything, it is that American radicals cannot afford to become their own worst enemies. In unity lies their only hope.”

Now it goes without saying that our Constitution was not designed with socialism in mind as the government of choice for America. Some will argue that the young Kagan was simply involved in an academic discussion and that it is not necessarily an accurate reflection of her personal politics. If that’s true, why was this in a recent filing signed by Kagan in her current role as Solicitor General…

“Whether a given category of speech enjoys First Amendment protection depends upon a categorical balancing of the value of the speech against its societal costs.”

Read that again – it appears to suggest that free speech is subject to its’ value. The value of speech itself is a subjective matter depending on who is listening. More from Kagan…

In 1993, Kagan wrote an article for the University of Chicago Law Review , in which she said , “I take it as a given that we live in a society marred by racial and gender inequality, that certain forms of speech perpetuate and promote this inequality, and that the uncoerced disappearance  of such speech would be cause for great elation.”

As recently as September, Kagan argued that Congress has the constitutional right to forbid companies from engaging in political speech such as publishing pamphlets that advocate the election or defeat of a candidate for federal office.

The court ruled 5-4 against Kagan (Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission) and her contention the government could limit political speech by corporations. In his opinion, Chief Justice Roberts wrote, “The government urges us in this case to uphold a direct prohibition on political speech. It asks us to embrace a theory of the First Amendment that would allow censorship not only of television and radio broadcasts, but of pamphlets, posters, the Internet, and virtually any other medium that corporations and unions might find useful in expressing their views on matters of public concern. Its theory, if accepted, would empower the government to prohibit newspapers from running editorials or opinion pieces supporting or opposing candidates for office, so long as the newspapers were owned by corporations — as the major ones are. First Amendment rights could be confined to individuals, subverting the vibrant public discourse that is at the foundation of our democracy.”

Justice Kennedy, in the majority opinion added that Kagan was defending a law that represents an attempt to use “censorship to control thought”, saying “This is unlawful. The First Amendment confirms the freedom to think for ourselves.”

So I ask you with all the talk of “net neutrality”, new FCC regulations to create diversity, newspaper bailouts and the regulatory tricks the administration is fond of – can we really afford a Supreme Court Justice who wants to manipulate the Constitution?

Kagan’s views on free speech are frightening. The idea that free speech become subject to government regulation is unconscionable and un-American. This violates the fundamental premise of the First Amendment, that all speech should be protected.

The thought of creating an unholy alliance between Ms. Kagan and the always frightening Regulatory Czar, Cass Sunstein should be enough to rally every conservative, republican and American in Congress to oppose her confirmation. Remember, Sunstein in a white paper of his own called “Conspiracy Theories” said the government should have the right to censor political views that it felt were inappropriate, damaging or misleading.

Quoting Sunstein on page 20 of his paper, “We could imagine circumstances in which a conspiracy theory became so pervasive, and so dangerous, that censorship would be thinkable.” His solutions include: A government ban on conspiracy theories and considering some type of government penalties such as a tax or fine on individuals who disseminate such theories.

The issues that must be raised at these confirmation hearings center on – who is Elena Kagan and what are her beliefs/ideals? How will they affect her rulings? Does she believe in the Constitution and will she support it? Is she a person who you want defending your rights and the Constitution? Or will she just be another tool in the box of those trying to “fundamentally transform America”?

So America, it is time to ask, how much control should the government have? This is not what the founding fathers had in mind. The government we see evolving before us is not part of any of the blue prints they left us! Our way of life, our freedom, our liberties and our sovereignty are at risk! It is time to stand up and fight back!
